🏛 Amesbury Tenant Union — Mission

The Amesbury Tenant Union exists to build collective tenant power.

We organize to defend safe, secure, and dignified housing for all people.

We fight retaliation. We expose abusive landlords. We stabilize our neighbors.

We defend each other — because nobody is coming to save us but us.

⚖ Our Core Beliefs

• 🏠 Housing is a human right. No person should fear eviction, harassment, or unsafe living conditions.
• 🛡 Collective defense is our power. What happens to one tenant affects all of us. We rise together.
• ⚔ We do not ask permission to organize. Landlords, agencies, and courts do not define our right to exist.
• 🧱 Block-by-block, building-by-building, we organize locally and fight citywide. Our Block Associations create hyper-local support that feeds our citywide union strength.
• 📚 We fight ignorance with education. Knowledge of tenant law and tenant rights is part of our organizing.
• 🤝 We protect the most vulnerable first. Our union centers the needs of tenants facing systemic oppression: voucher holders, low-income families, undocumented tenants, disabled tenants, seniors, and single parents.
• 💡 We believe in solidarity, not charity. We don’t exist to hand out temporary help — we build long-term collective self-defense.
• 🔬 We document everything. Evidence, violations, retaliation — we build a legal and public record that cannot be erased.
• 🖤 We fight so our children and grandchildren don’t have to. This union is about survival now — and liberation tomorrow.
